Un conio non confinato avviene quando il collare non è presente a confinare il tondello durante il conio. Questo tipo di errore si riconosce bene perché da proprio l'idea della moneta "Spiaccicata" in questo tipo di errore il contorno è sempre liscio! La moneta deve essere sempre interamente visibile altrimenti si ha un "fuori centro".

Off-Fuori centro

Quando un tondello sta per essere coniato il conio inferiore è circondato da un collare. Questo collare galleggia su delle molle (si può abbassare) per prevenire danni al macchinario se c'è un malfunzionamento. Il tondello dovrebbe stare dentro il collare ma se questo non avviene avremo un conio fuori centro. Quindi solo una parte del tondello verrà coniata. Attenzione questo errore avviene solo se ambedue le faccie sono coniate e sono tutte e due fuori centro, se solo una faccia è fuori centro allora avremmo un "conio disallineato".

Off Center: One of the more dramatic errors, the off center strike happens, when a coin blank is mis-fed into the coin press and only part of the planchet is struck. Each error is different, and is categorized by two different measurements: The amount of the coin design that is visible (i.e., 25% off center), and where the off center design is located in reference to a clock. (The coin pictured would be off center at 2:00.) Some collectors make clocks with an appropriate off center coin at each hour on the dial face

Doppio colpo o Salto di Conio

Le monete sono coniate velocissime (da 100 a 700 al minuto) a questo ritmo può succedere che la moneta coniata rimanga sul conio nonostante il collare sia stato abbassato, se la moneta coniata rimane e magari scivola un poco poi viene coniata una seconda volta. Conii multipli possono accadere.

Clip

ll clip o taglio nasce prima che venga coniata la moneta, è il tondello che viene tranciato. In genere i tondelli vengono fatti da un macchinario che li taglia da fogli di metallo a pressione se il taglio viene effettuato sul bordo avremo un taglio dritto, se viene effettuato due volte avremo un tondello con un taglio curvo (i più belli).
Il clip è un errore di tondello non di conio !

Clip - The clipped planchet error occurs during the stamping process, where thin sheets of metal are fed into a stamping machine that punches out rows of coin blanks. If the sheet shifts (don't say that too fast) during the process, blanks may have sections missing where previous blanks have been removed (see illustration), creating a curved clip. A straight clip, on the other hand, comes from an incomplete stamping along the edge. This is another relatively common error.
